Career Outcomes
As a mental health support worker, you will provide emotional support to people that are going through difficult times and help them learn the skills needed to get better. You will work with individuals with mental illnesses or facing tough social problems such as abuse, homelessness and addiction. You will also work with your clients to put together plans that can help them get back on track. Unlike other health care workers, mental health workers cannot prescribe medication or diagnose people they are working with but you can refer them on to a doctor or psychiatrist.
